Description
US $20 Dollar Liberty The U.S. $20 Dollar Liberty gold coin was the first $20 gold coin struck, minted from 1849 to 1907. It is commonly referred to as a Double Eagle, as its $10 predecessor is known as an Eagle. These gold coins contain .9675 ounces of pure gold (the remainder being copper to increase durability), and the premium associated with these coins will raise and lower due to market demand, as they are no longer produced. A second historic, and similarly traded U.S. $20 gold coin is the Saint Gaudens, which was minted from 1908 to 1933, named after Augustus Saint Gaudens, who was commissioned by Teddy Roosevelt to design the gold coin.
